In years past at this time we'd be roasting chestnuts over an open fire and laughing with a warm mug of hot chocolate in our hands, instead we're sitting huddled freezing on our couches for two reasons, 1: "spare the air" warnings make it illegal to have an open fire and 2: (the more important) we're too busy watching the College Bowl Games!
Say what you want about the BCS (I hate it just as much as you do) but I love the bowl games! Seein those guys go all out one last time. For most of them it's their last game ever. The smaller teams have tons of seniors because there's no pro career to leave early for. They're out there to leave on a high note. Tomorrow (or at least when the next semester is over) they'll graduate and enter into the "real" world. Full of boring meaningless office jobs. I've known several high school football players who miss it like crazy and can't seem to leave high school football behind. I can only imagine it's that much worse for a college player.
Anyway what little football I've seen lately has been spectacular. I loved watchin my Cougs roll over Oregon St. I am well aware that 9 out of 10 BYU will fall, but this was the 10th time! Again, as much as I hate the BCS, I'm really looking forward to the bowl games. I'm really upset about the "Cop-Out Bowl" though (Boise St. v TCU). The BCS can't afford to have another "BCS buster" beat out "their" school! I don't want to hear about "at least it's a BCS bowl" or any garbage like that. Both schools should get the chance to go up against the big-boys. They've earned the right to showcase their talents against the BCS schools. They're undefeated, Florida isn't yet Boise St. sits behind them. While TCU ranks above Cincinnati in both the AP and Coaches poll, they fall short according to the computers and rank 4th behind the Bearcats. Please, I dare you to explain that to me. I've heard some say that we should boycott all BCS bowl games not sponsored by Tostitos and only watch Boise St and TCU battle it out, but I want to watch the National Championship game too much. That's another thing that won't be brought up here, but should be is the title "National Championship Game." If it doesn't include the whole nation, it can't be "national."
Again, as much as I love the bowl games, the BCS is terrible and college football will hurt year after year until ESPN steps in and forces them to go playoff. Think of the kids!!!
